Celebrate the visual and performing arts in Downtown Arcata during 2nd Friday Arts! Arcata August 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We want to Welcome all our community members to come out and visit with us for a lively night market of local art displayed in our downtown stores. As an additional bonus, this month the center of the plaza will be converted into a beer garden and will feature music from the local band Los Amantes del Mañana. We will also be featuring a variety of nonprofit informational tables.

Arcata Artisans, 883 H Street

All are welcome to visit Arcata Artisans Gallery for the artist reception of stained glass artist Amy Ellis Taylor and photographer Jim Lowry, from 4-8p. During this time you can meet the artists to gain more insight into their creations.

Arts! Arcata visitors are encouraged to shop late, stop by and say hi. They are also celebrating this month with special discounts for Arts! Arcata participants.

EXIT Theatre, 890 G Street, upstairs

This month will feature a collection of paintings curated and created by Ninfa and Kailin Mottershead, mother and daughter. Both women call Humboldt home, with their deepest roots founded in their Columbian heritage and passion for color and texture. View the art while listening to the sounds of Stan Fleming, Jr. on Saxaphone from 4-7p. Then, Arts! Arcata participants are being welcomed back for another DIVA Burlesque Arcata, a Circus themed show!  Burlesque show starts at 8:30 PM Friday August 12th, $20 tickets, more information can be found at  www.theexit.org.

Month long show featuring artists Augustus Clark and Allison Curtis.

Will be featuring art of the Huichole including beadwork and yarn paintings.

Featuring a variety of artists and mediums. Art enthusiasts are encouraged to come in and peruse all the art on display.

Featuring Wonderful Weavings and Oil Paintings from artist Gabrielle Luo. There will also be live harp music by David Pavlovich as well as free tea to enjoy.

Continuing show featuring Carol Anderson, Kathyrn Stotler, and Jimmy Callian.

Plaza Grill, 791 8th Street, Jacoby’s Storehouse

Running through September will be a photographic tribute to the wonder of nature from artists Leslie Scopes Anderson and Mike Anderson. Both artists hope that “their photography fosters an awareness of love for the irreplaceable majesty of nature”.

The Griffin, 937 10th Street

Goldylocks will be spinning records, Flor d’ Luna will be pouring wine and Joyce Jonte and the Redwood Model Collective will be doing live models/sketching with a $10 suggested donation. William Kauffman will also have some wooden arts and crafts.

The Jam, 915 H Street

The Jam will be closed until 10pm for a private event but encourages Arts! Arcata participants stop by to end their evening with some awesome DJ’s.

The Rocking Horse, 791 H St.

The Rocking Horse will be open and encourage Arts! Arcata participants to stop by and say hello!

The Sanctuary, 1301 J St

The Sanctuary will be hosting an artist reception, from 6-9p, for Meredith Smith and her collection of art on display through the end of August, titled “Body Language”. There will be food by the Brunch Passion Food Truck. More information can be found at sanctuaryarcata.org

The Thing, 833 H St

Candle Pouring led by Clay on Herbs will also feature snacks, an extra 10oz refill to take home with you as well as a  musical guest! Event is from 5:30-7:30p and is $35 presale.

Umpqua Bank Upstairs Gallery, 1063 G Street

Memorial Exhibit: a celebration of Arcata artist Tim O’Reilly, 1956-2021, featuring energetic paintings of color, dance, action, love, and a joy for life presented by Shoshanna.
