Did you know that the 4th of July is the longest running festival on the Arcata Plaza? For over 150 years!

Come celebrate with us in true Arcata fashion by starting the day off blowing bubbles in the Bubbles parade! We’ll meet at 10:00 a.m. at the shop, Bubbles, located at 1031 H Street. If you are one of the first 100 people, you’ll get free bubbles to blow as we parade round and round the Plaza.

Families are the focus of this event and there are both free and paid activities to engage in. You can get a wax hand, a face painting; you can skate the ramps from RampArt and get creative while making spinart. Lounge on your blanket while watching Humboldt Aerial Collective inspire you with their strong abdominal muscles, twirling in the air. The Humboldt Rockers do something similar on land at 2:30 at the corners of 9th & H streets.

The day will entertain you with four live music performances from the Undercovers, Lyndsey Battle, Stevie Culture & the Irie Rockers, Conman Bolo, and Community African Dance & Drum Arcata. Beer, wine, and nine different delicious and affordable food booths have the potential to feed you and shopping will be available with favorite, returning vendors and newcomers, too.
Last, but not least, we’re doing our best to live the Arcata dream – treading lightly on the earth. You’re invited to think ahead and put containers, utensils, and cups in your backpack.
