This touching and beautiful event takes place in August at Klopp Lake in the Arcata Marsh. At the ceremony, hundreds of paper lanterns – created by the community at the farmers’ market – are lit and floated into the lake. The event was originally founded to commemorate those who lost their lives in the 1945 atomic bombings of Japan, however, the event is a way to remember and honor all those that we miss, have lost, ancestors, culture, and all we hold dear. This event features speakers and live music performances. For more information visit arcatalanternfloatingceremony.org and before this evening time event, spend some time in town and Shop!
