Getting to Arcata
Despite its remote and private location, there are quite a few options for how you choose to arrive in Arcata! The first step in planning your trip is planning your arrival.
Flying
The Arcata-Eureka Airport (ACV) has daily flights from two airlines including Avelo and United! Avelo flies to and from Burbank, CA (BUR) and just added Las Vegas, NV (LAS). United flies to and from Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), and Denver (DEN).
Driving
Take Highway 101 up all the way from Los Angeles or down all the way from Washington and you’ll run straight into Arcata! Either way, you’ll enjoy hundreds of miles of beautiful views! Highway 299 also connects Arcata to Redding and Interstate Highway 5.
Bussing
Take a comfortable ride on a Greyhound bus to Arcata from all over the Western United States! Those traveling from Counties bordering Humboldt may also choose to take local busses and connect with Humboldt County busses.

Getting Around
Walking – One of the best ways to get around Arcata is on foot! There is no better way to experience our unique culture and history than by strolling around town. Check out our self-guided tours to learn more about our town.
Biking – The City of Arcata, in collaboration with Cal Poly Humboldt, offers eight bike share locations across town! You can rent one of our awesome bikes for just $1.50 per half hour!
Driving – Car Rentals are available through National Car Rental and Enterprise Car Rental. Both agencies have locations at Arcata-Eureka.
Bussing – Arcata and Humboldt County have a great public transportation system. Take advantage of busses that go all over Arcata and all around Humboldt County!
